Okinawa THE BIRTHPLACE OF KARATE

From the 14th century, Okinawa started trade and cultural exchanges with neighboring countries, and as a result, established an attractive traditional culture. ”Karate” was born in Okinawa in this historical and cultural background, and it has been passed down as a material art that cultivates a tough body and an indomitable spirit through arduous discipline and at the same time contributes to building a character that loves peace and values civility. Karate is a traditional aspect of our culture that Okinawans are proud of, and even now it continues to be passed on and valued as Okinawan Karate.

Basic Policy for the Okinawa Karate World Tournament

The purpose of holding the Okinawa Karate World Tournament is to create a place where Okinawa karate enthusiasts from all over the world can gather in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, to deepen exchanges, to properly preserve and pass on the techniques and spirit of Okinawa karate that have been systematized and inherited to the present by our predecessors, and to promote the future of traditional Okinawa karate and kobujutsu.
